I had the same gut-wrenching response to the War Museum (which had only recently changed its name from 'The American War Crimes Museum.). There were some Americans in our party who came out stunned and weeping, in the horrified realisation that they had been given a very limited perspective on the war by their own country - they honestly had no idea about the scale of the civilian slaughter.<br /><br />If you get the chance to go up to Hanoi (take the Reunification Express), I'd highly recommend it for culture and contrast.
